Remote access

To access HiOA file servers, i.e. shared drive (K:) and journals from your own computer, you need a VPN connection.


  1. Remote desktop
  2. Connect to VPN
  3. Find your file server
  4. Connect to file server

1. Connect to VPN

1.1 VPN connection for Android and iOS for iPad and iPhone

1.2 VPN connection for macOS

1.3 VPN connection for Windows

1.4 VPN connection for Linux

Install an OpenVPN client you prefer to use.

VPN for Linux: Download OpenVPN Config-file.

On some Linux distributions, it may be necessary to add the following three lines in the configuration file:

script-security 2
up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf
down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf

2. Find server

Find the name for shared drive (K:) and SSH connection.

  • Fin servers (
  • Login and select Access to servers from outside HiOA's network.

If you need to transfer or synchronize files on your home directory to your own computer, you can use Cyberduck.
