Pre-Arrival Guide

Before arriving in Norway, make sure you complete the steps listed here. These are relevant for international exchange students, and international Master students.

Accept your place and notify HiOA of any special needs

Master's Degree students

Accept your place in "Søknadsweb". The deadline is approximately 10 days after receiving your offer.

Exchange students

Accept your place and notify us of special needs through the online Declaration of Acceptance form. The deadline is 29 October and 28 May.

You will  find more information about the relevant online form in your Admission Letter from HiOA.

Apply for student housing

Apply for student housing  as soon as possible. You can also apply for housing before you have received an offer. The deadlines are 31 October and 31 May.

Register or apply for Residence Permit and Visa

Get health insurance

As a student you need to have some form of health insurance during your stay in Norway. What kind of insurance depends on your nationality and the length of your stay.

Arrival Service

HiOA provides Arrival Service for international students. Fellow students will greet you at Oslo Central Railway station and accompany you your student housing.

Orientation Day

Orientation day is a kick-start to settling in as a student in Norway and at HiOA.

Buddy programme

HiOA offers a Buddy Programme for its students. All new international students are automatically assigned a buddy group.
