Here you can find the buddy week program for media and communications.

Welcome to the Buddy program for new students at

·        Bachelor and one-year programme in Media and Communication

  • Important information about the Buddy programme
  • As a new student, you’re automatically assigned a Buddy group. You do not have to sign up. Activities are not mandatory, but we recommend everyone to join!
  • If Buddy activities collide with mandatory classes, always make going to class your priority.
  • In the event of any changes to this activity plan, your Buddies will keep you updated.

  • The Buddies will use a Facebook group as our primary means of communication. Information about this group will be given on the first day.

Tuesday August 14.

14.30 – 15.00
The Buddies will meet you in the classroom and the group will head towards the St. Hanshaugen park for the welcoming ceremony. At this point, we will also split you in to 4 different buddy groups that you will remain a part of during the whole Buddy period.

15.00 – 16.30
Welcoming ceremony and music for all new students at St. Hanshaugen.

16:30 – 20:30
Grilling at St. Hanshaugen arranged by OTS. There will be social activities to get to know each other.

21:00
Welcoming party for all OsloMet students at Chateau Neuf – The Norwegian Student Society, at Majorstuen

 

Wednesday August 15.

The Buddies will give you a guided tour around the campus, showing you different places that you should know about.

16:00 – 17:00
Lunchbreak

We will all walk to St. Hanshaugen together, where we will eat grilled food and play games to get to know each other.

 

Thursday August 16.

The new students have lectures during the daytime.

16:00 – 18:00
The buddies will arrange a competition were each of the 4 groups will participate in various games around the school and the city.

The best group from the competition will be awarded a prize. This will take place on St. Hanshaugen, or at Samfunnet Bislet if the weather is bad.

 

Friday August 17.

11.00 – 16.00
Student association day in Pilestredet 52.
The Buddies will take you there at a convenient time (when you’re not in class).
Student life will be more fun if you join a student association. On this day, you can visit the stands of every student association at OsloMet and find one that suits your interests.

16:30 – 20:00
A themed party in the Frogner park! The theme is childrens birthday parties. Sausages, cake and soft drinks will be served!

We will move on to Samfunnet Bislet.

 

Saturday August 18.

Studentslippet
Find your Oslo! Your Buddy will take you on a get to know the city-day for all new students in Oslo. Visit attractions, participate in activities and explore new places in Oslo. Everything is free! For more information, visit: https://studentslippet.no/

We will gather in our Buddy groups, before making our way to Chateau Neuf.

 

Monday August 20.

Board games night! We will gather home at the Buddies, or at Samfunnet Bislet for a proper night of board games.

 

Tuesday August 21.

The new students have lectures during the daytime.

11.00 – 13.00
Student support day in Pilestredet 52.
Buddies will take you there at a convenient time (when you’re not in class).
Get to know what OsloMet has to offer you as a new student. On this day, you can visit different stands with all our support services from carreer advising and library services to IT-support and our University Chaplain.

 

Wednesday August 22.

We will take the ferry from Aker brygge to the island Hovedøya, were we will eat grilled food, play games, and possibly swim. NOTE: you will need a Ruter-ticket to get on the ferry (zone 1). The Buddy association will provide food for the trip.

 

Thursday August 23.

We will play bowling in the Solli area.

Friday August 24.

A themed party, as well as a quiz. The theme is yet to be decided.

Saturday August 25. – Final day of the Buddy programme!
